    Thank you Alex Hofford. That is an interesting piece of information. It appears phonetics plays a large part in how mainland Chinese choose their names. Even English names have to "sound right" to the Chinese "ear". This appears to be less important for Hong Kong novel names. An important distinction perhaps?
